Contact Accendo CV

Bhavin’s CV displays a talented engineer who understands engineering management. His medium term goal is clearly expressed in a fluent and poised ‘objectives’ supported by a strong academic track record.

A number of issues could improve Bhavin’s CV, which are in two categories. First is design; the CV is too big to hold the reader. The whole CV should be two pages. Page one opens with that well worded objectives, supported by his academic record. This needs to be on one page, but currently spills to page two. The second page should be about work, where Bhavin can show his strong work ethic – we can do this as he is not yet marketing specific engineering skills. Here the content can be reduced significantly. I would counsel against the use of colour because it’s a matter of taste and we cannot know that of the reader.

Content is the second category, where the GCSE’s, AS and A levels can be reduced. At first glance (and we may assume recruitment agents will) Bhavin seems to have the Masters he is studying at Brunel. This impression must be avoided. Make a virtue of his work ethic by saying his time with the Council funded his higher degree.

On strategy: While an updated CV is important, Bhavin is not yet available for the job market. He needs to plan his campaign and launch it four months before course completion, use the channels (direct, job boards, adverts, agencies, etc). Bhavin is a young man and should consider equipping himself with modern tools including career website. The web is a wide shallow sea of opportunity and needs presence. Career websites are new, agents are turning to them, and amongst the best offered are at www.lifebrand.co.uk, where Bhavin can lodge his CV securely while convincingly describing his skills.
